Preserving, strenghtening and developing cities

Preserving, strengthening, and developing cities: this has been the main focus of my professional career. My strength as a planner has been to bring parties together to develop strategies, deal with conflicting interests, and create broad community and political support for new initiatives.

I have played a key role in the development of  a number of large scale plans involving urban renewal and the rebuilding of postwar neighborhoods, parks, and recreational areas in and around Amsterdam in the Netherlands. My Dutch background and experience brings a unique but relevant perspective to planning in an American context, and can, perhaps, even inspire new approaches to urban development.
